The goals of the course
1. understanding contemporary French cinema.
To become familiar with contemporary French actors, actresses and directors. Reflect on the notion of cinema in our modern society. Understand the differences between French cinema and American cinema.
2. to understand the film semiotics.
Read images as symbolic representaions. Learn more about the world of pictorial representation. Able to read images and understand the manipulation that they imply. Know how to analyse the nature of the manipulation of the real through constructed images. Understand the difference between an artistic product and a commercial product.
3 cinema and society.
See movies, listen to dialogues, see behaviors, and thus better understand the society and mentalities. Familiarize yourself by comparison with the lifestyles represented in french films and try to understand visions and representation of the world. Understand why movies reveal social practices and specific culture, history and mentality sensitivities. Therefore better understand differences in assessment of situations and behaviours in French society and society American contemporary to understand what brings closer them and what separates them in their diversity.

Les buts du cours
1. Mieux connaître le cinéma français contemporain.
Se familiariser avec certains acteurs, certaines actrices et metteur-en-scène contemporains. Réfléchir sur la notion de cinéma dans notre société moderne. Comprendre les différences entre le cinéma français et le cinéma américain.
2. Comprendre la sémiotique cinématographique.
Savoir lire des images. Mieux connaître le monde de la représentation imagée. Savoir lire les images et comprendre la manipulation qu’elles impliquent. Savoir analyser la nature de la manipulation du réel. Comprendre la différence entre un produit artistique et un produit commercial.
3. Cinéma et société.
Voir des films, écouter des dialogues, voir des comportements, et donc mieux comprendre la société et les mentalités. Se familiariser par la comparaison avec les modes de vie représentées dans les films français et essayer de comprendre des visions et représentation du monde. Comprendre pourquoi les films révèlent des pratiques sociales et des sensibilités spécifiques à la culture, à l'histoire et à la mentalité. Donc mieux comprendre les différences d'appréciation des situations et les comportements dans la société française et la société américaine contemporaines pour mieux saisir ce qui les rapproche et ce qui les sépare dans leurs diversités.
4. Faire des progrès en français.
Les films et leurs dialogues, les textes, le cours, cet ensemble favorisera l'apprentissage de la langue parlée et écrite. L'écoute des dialogues et les échanges en cours favoriseront la communication et une meilleure pratique de la langue française contemporaine, en particulier, expressions et vocabulaire de la vie d'aujourd'hui et du monde des médias.
